Course

The Back Yamma Bigfoot offers riders the choice of a 25km, 50km or 100km course. With no huge mountain climbs, the fast flowing hilly single tracks are a rare find. The course setters have explored every inch of the state forest looking for the best single tracks. Meticulous GPS mapping has allowed the setters to link amazing single track to awesome single track to offer one hell of a ride.

The course has been designed to cater to beginners, intermediate and advanced riders. Beginners can taste the fun of fast flowing single track in the “Little Foot” (25km option), while intermediate and advanced riders can push a little harder and take in some of the more technical aspects of the single track in the ‘Big Foot’ (50km option) and ‘Two Big Feet’ (100km option). Each course is designed to offer large amounts single track spread throughout the course to keep it interesting and allow plenty of opportunities to pass.

The Little Foot (25km – Essential Energy stage only)

The Little Foot will suit beginners and social riders. This loop will combine the flatter single track with one hilly single track pass for a little speed. This race will start after the more competitive Big Foot so riders should not feel pressured to ride fast if a social ride is all your after. Though sprint riders will find the 25km loop fast and exhilarating.

The Big Foot (50km – Essential Energy and Ground Effect stages)

The Big Foot is the premier event and will take in around 25km of fast flowing fun single track. The remaining course will use fire trails and double track to link the best single track. The course is designed to be fast with the occasional log or creek crossing to keep you on your toes.

Two Big Feet (100km – two laps of the Essential Energy and Ground Effect stages)

Two Big Feet will suit the more experienced riders. The extra length will make for a good days ride. The course is pretty flat and fast. This race would be a perfect first attempt at a 100 km ride or for a more experienced rider trying to set a personal fastest time over 100 km. Riders in the Two Big Feet will be subject to cut-off times at the 50km and 75km marks as detailed below.

Cut-off Times

Riders competing in the Two Big Feet (100km) race will be subject to a cut off time of 4 hours at 50km and 5.5 hours at 75km. These time limits are necessary to prevent our volunteers having to wait out in the forest into the night. We believe these time limits are reasonable for the 100km riders as the track is flat and fast.

At 12:00 a marshal will place a barricade across the track preventing 100km riders from starting their second lap. Riders arriving at this junction after the barricade has been installed will be short coursed and will receive a time for their first 50km lap.

At 13:30 a marshal will place a barricade across the 50/100km track at the junction where the 25km riders turned off earlier in the day. Riders arriving at this junction after the barricade has been installed will be short coursed and required to return to the event center via the course used by the 25km riders. These short coursed riders will receive a time for their first 50km lap plus a time for 75km.
